Obey the Laws of the Land
Matthew 26:41 "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
All of our actions have consequences attached. Jesus doesn't make us do anything; but we, even as believers, will blame God for our misfortunes caused by our own actions. This past week, I was speeding and was caught by law enforcement. While sitting there awaiting the officer's return, I was thinking . . .you have seen him sitting there waiting for speeders for the past three weeks. What was in me that I allowed myself to press the accelerator to drive beyond the allowed speed? I wasn't late; I wasn't in a hurry. Why did I insist on going beyond the speed limit? In my book, it is called an "act of the flesh".
For each of us, we fall short in some areas of our lives. For as long as we live, we shall have that battle; but the battle can be won through Jesus Christ. We must continually seek God's face and die daily to the flesh. As the years grow, I grow stronger in some areas; but in some, I remain weak. In a sense, I would love to get beyond this, but something tells me that this will keep me humble. My prayer today and everyday is "may God continue to strengthen me in every arena that I fall short." The word says "where I am weak I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says:
9) But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10) That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Praise God ... that nothing serious happened. But from what was he protecting me ? Perhaps, He was just grabbing my attention that day! There are things that I will never know the answer. But wait, how many times will I have to receive a ticket to learn the lesson? What are you falling short of today? Have you been stopped today and ticketed for your choices or decisions?
